Ricardo doesn't know where he's going
We got up to some shenanigans yesterday doing our large format photography assignment for this week. The assignment is pretty basic, centering around photographing architecture, so I decided we should go down the Jones Falls Expressway because there are a lot of abandoned warehouses with a lot of machinery still inside and some lovely 19th century details. HOWEVER, the boys took over and decided that we should go to the Lebow Coat factory which shut down some twenty years ago and has been abandoned ever since. A lot of kids from MICA go there to do projects or to scavenge fabric and buttons. There are racks upon rack still filled with finished or half finished coats and the floors are covered in buttons in some parts. Anyway, Ricardo said he knew where it was and he definitely didn't, so instead we stumbled upon this building which we thought was it for sure, so we went inside. When we got inside it was clear that it wasn't the coat factory but by some leftover filing cabinets with paper work still in them and some large glass coverings for lights that were around we've surmised that the company that owned the building used to manufacture and also maybe rent out lighting for the city and for city events. We've dubbed it Baltimore Light and Electric.
These shots are not our photo homework by the way, just some documentation of
our exploration since large format is not really a large quantity kind of process.
We still have to take more shots, so we'll probably get to the coat factory or the Jones Falls warehouses next week. Also! I'm wearing my new Annie Wu shirt that I got at SPX this weekend with her illustration for the made up western "Poison in her Well". I'm in love with it.

There will be updates soon. I haven't even begun to work really because the first two weeks have been full of road trips to weddings in North Carolina and engagement parties for friends. Here are some lovely shots of our road trip wedding by my boy friend Ricardo Contreras. Our friend and room mate Michael Clayton, offered his car and driving and was a doll in general. Some more photographs coming and then some work.
