SMOKE AND HORSES

I did some ink sketches the other day partially from some images of World War II soldiers. I'm really into the ink on tracing paper and am definitely going to make more, I got a LIFE book on Evolution that I'm excited to break out.

UNDER REVIEW

my review boards were today. I think it went very well over all, although I have noticed that the longer ago a critique happened the more I focus on the negatives, because they're the most important and therefore the worse I feel about it as time goes on. However, that said, it does mean that I will have a little more time for a week or so (I'm going to luxuriate with a tiny break from the studio, by which I mean I'm not going to go in every single day this week) and that means I can document some work that I haven't had a chance to and overhaul and reorganize my website which is a mess!

Most important news, I'm going to start a very large canvas based on the small lavender painting with the shadow in the last post, I'm not blowing up that image, it was just the spark for another image.

THERE MAY BE A STABBING

I did this little painting last night and I'm really in love with it. I immediately considered making some more of them, but now I'm not so sure. I'm thinking about it.




In other news this painting was going awesomely last night, when I worked on it for the first time in weeks, up until right after this point and now it's a fiasco. I guess I'm going to spend all weekend not only working on everything else I have to do, but also fixing this even though it should already be presentable for review boards on Monday. ALSO these images are being totally de saturated by blogger for some reason, they look a lot better IRL.

DAWN

Just finished this drawing, it has a counterpart which will be coming soon. Also some photographic counterparts where my head is not on fire and I hope they work out (I haven't developed the sheet negatives yet). In other news, my art work from my semester abroad in Italy FINALLY arrived this week! I've finally documented most of the work and it should be up on my website by the end of this week!

A FLAME, A LIGHT

Will from rare books and manuscripts at the Walters Art Museum, where I worked this summer, showed me these crazy Durer wood blocks of some scenes from Revelations; one of them had an angel with a sword that has a cloud body, a head made of the rays of the sun and columns of fire for legs. I doodled this during a meeting later that day and then it became a small painting. I'm sorry tat I'm just showing you these small pieces that I make to go in different directions every now and then, but the larger works are taking their time and I'm not really ready to show them yet. I'm working on them and will post them soon.
